July Convening Recap: Launching into Year 2!

This summer, we officially launched Year 2 of The MOMENTUM Residency, welcoming a new cohort of residents and reconnecting with returning clinicians. It was amazing and energizing to be with both cohorts, sharing space, ideas, and a sense of community as we begin the school year.

We kicked off the convening with a community dinner that set the tone of the retreat, and from there, we moved into three days of intentional work (and play!):

Day 1

focused on the healing power of play and practical tools for the new school year. We learned new communication strategies and how to prioritize wellness.

Day 2

featured sessions led by Dr. Halima Dargan a clinician, educator, and supervisor, and Tia Brumsted, founder of Sweetbay Mental Health and Consulting and school mental health expert. They guided residents in exploring mentorship, trauma-responsive care, and the ethical foundations of self-care.

Day 3

Centered on a panel by the School Leader Lab, which brought school leaders and residents into dialogue around making space for perspective-sharing and partnership. We closed with a session led by Courvaun Hill on supporting LGBTQ+ students.

As we move into the school year, we carry forward the momentum we gained at the convening.
