The MOMENTUM Residency offers a strategic approach to improving clinician retention and building resiliency in school-based mental health work. Our program provides residents with advanced experiential training, self-reflective supervision, and equity-driven methodologies to create sustainable careers and thriving school communities.

Frequently Asked Questions
When does the residency begin?
MOMENTUM residents begin in August of 2026 and end by June 2027. Employment for residents at your school or organization can begin as early as desired, once the resident is accepted into MOMENTUM, matched with your site, and an offer has been extended and accepted.. Acceptances and matches for our program begin in May 2027. Please note that placement is competitive and if you are interested in participating, you must follow our timeline for interviews and offers.
What is required to employ a resident?
- As a school employer, you must:
- Submit a job description for the position you wish to fill and a completed application within the designated timeframe
- Attend an interview with MOMENTUM
- Agree to participate in MOMENTUM before you meet and interview an applicant should you choose to make an offer
- Pay MOMENTUM $15,000 tuition fee payable in 2 installments
- Offer the resident a minimum salary of 70k plus benefits
- Ensure sufficient office space for the resident to perform job duties
- Ensure residents’ workload is adjusted to attend the quarterly convenings, regular virtual supervision, and special events.
- Participate in virtual monthly alignment meetings with the assigned MOMENTUM Clinical Supervisor, 2 of which are in person.
If I apply, am I guaranteed a resident?
- At this time, we cannot guarantee all employers will receive a resident as we have limited capacity.
- You must make a commitment to partnership with MOMENTUM upon introduction and hiring of a MOMENTUM resident candidate.
What if I am not sure if I will have a vacancy for the 2025-2026 school year, should I still apply?
Yes, however please note that placement priority will be given to employers who have firmly committed to hiring a resident.
I have a new mental health clinician working with us, he/she/they could really benefit from this program - can this employee apply?
- Yes! We will consider any applicant who is interested in learning more about school mental health, anti racist practice, and desires a deeper experience in clinical supervision. Encourage your staff to apply and invest in their growth and commitment to you.
- We view MOMENTUM as not only a recruitment space but also as a retention strategy for those who desire more in depth training and support in an existing role.
Do residents work over the summer?
- Residents must be available during summer months to attend orientation and our first conveying.
- Summer employment depends on your school schedule and they must attend our summer events
As an employer school or CBO, I'm getting applications for mental health practitioner roles. Can they apply for MOMENTUM?
MOMENTUM can offer continued hours of contractual supervision for a cost. Supervision is required for LGSWs or LGPCs, supports growth towards independent licensure, and aids in retention of your resident clinician
